    KSA Architectural Conservation
Architectural Conservation has become an important feature of the planning process in Ireland in recent years, as well as an attractive, sustainable way to enhance many buildings, towns and cities. Conservation of the existing built environment is a core aspect of regeneration, urban renewal and town development. It is part of the wider field of spatial planning which aims to create sustainable natural and built environments, so that the best living and working conditions are created to achieve a better life for all.

KSA has undertaken architectural Inventories, reviews of the list of protected structures as well as preparing Architectural Conservation appraisals.

Irelands architectural heritage is a unique resource which once lost cannot be replaced. Historic structures add character to area creating a sense of place which people can identify with. Such structures can help us understand how past societies and conditions have changed or they can pinpoint certain times or events in history. Even simple functional objects like water pumps indicate the arrival of community water schemes throughout rural Ireland.

As many Irish towns and villages have their origins in historic settlement, the importance of the historic architectural environment is a vital part of planning, urban design and architecture. KSA takes an approach to urban development that integrates the professional approaches of urban design and architectural conservation, highlighting the value and significance of the historic environment and the public realm.
